You need to comply with the visa conditions which usually come into effect after entering Australia. Compliance with your visa conditions and policies is important in order to avoid visa cancellation.

For being eligible for a student visa category, you need to fulfill the following conditions:

  • Maintain your Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)/ insurance if in Australia for yourself and family members who are accompanying you;
  • Remain with the same education provider you enrolled prior for the first 6 months of your course or, if the course is less than 6 months, then applicable for the duration of your course;
  • If you are a lone student applicants under 18 years of age then you need to acquire the written approval of your education provider before you change your address, support and welfare arrangements in Australia.
  • If you wish to change your education provider then it is mandatory that you must inform your current education provider within 7 days of issue of an Electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoE);
  • If you are applying for a Defence student visa and are sponsored by AusAID you will be subject to certain rules and exclusions;
  • Leaving Australia before your visa expires, or to apply for another eligible visa;

Assessment Levels- Student Visas

Determination of assessment level of each applicant is determined by a combination of assessment of the country of residence and the visa subclass opted.

Following this mechanism, each applicant is thus assigned an assessment level on a scale of 1 to 3 where assessment level 1 is the lowest assessment rank and assessment level 3 being the highest.

The higher the assessment level, the more proofs you need to provide for demonstrating your financial capacity and understanding of the English language.

  • Student or Guardian: $21,041 (up from $20,290)
